Red Flag Warning: What does it mean?

“A Red Flag Warning means if a fire happens today, your firefighters are going to have a hard time controlling it, and you may need to take action,” said Heath Hockenberry, the National Fire Weather Program Manager with the National Weather Service.

Peak fire season in the Northwest typically stretches from the Fourth of July into early September

Connecting with non-English speakers is still a challenge during emergencies

Wildfires are always dangerous but imagine not understanding the warnings. That's the challenge faced by communities with language barriers and Washington agencies say there's still a long way to go despite efforts to break those barriers.
