A native of Chicago, cellist Dr. Kevin Hekmatpanah has presented hundreds of solo and chamber performances throughout the country, including concerts at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, the Society of the Cincinnati Artist Series in Washington D.C., the Sitka Music Festival, the Lower Makefield Performing Arts Society in Pennsylvania, the Camerata Musica Concert Series in Salem, Oregon, the Russian Chamber Music Foundation and the Kirkland Performance Center in Seattle and many more.
Outside North America, he has performed concertos in Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, in Stockholm, Sweden, and at the home of Edvard Grieg in Bergen, Norway. He also appeared as soloist with the Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra in Bulgaria. He has also presented recitals in Costa Rica, Norway, and the Para XXV International Music Festival in Brazil and performed at St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna and the Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt, Austria. Deeply committed to teaching, Mr. Hekmatpanah is a Professor of Music at Gonzaga University, where he has taught since 1994. He is currently a member of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra. He has served on competition juries, and he has presented master classes and clinics throughout the country.
Praised for her “splendid and subtlety plus beautiful, refined sound & phrase” (Russell Sherman), pianist Yoon-Wha Roh has been appearing as a celebrated soloist with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, New Jersey Garden State Orchestra, Korean Symphony Orchestra, Korean Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National Symphony Orchestra, Sungnam Philharmonic Orchestra, and New York Classical Symphony Orchestra. She has also been featured in Korean monthly music magazines, “Eumak Journal” and “The Piano”, for her orchestra performances and interviews. She has won awards and special prizes from numerous competitions including, Manhattan International Music Competition, National Artists Competition, American Prize, International Moscow Music Competition, Carles and Sofia Piano Competition, Piano Texas Concerto Competition, and Hakata Fukuoka International Piano Competition among others.
Active as a chamber musician, Roh holds Doctor of Music in Piano Performance and Literature, with minors in theory and art administration from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. She currently teaches at Washington State University as Assistant Professor of Piano. Previously, she has taught at the University of Idaho, Towson University, Phillips Academy of Andover, and New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory School and Continuing Education. She is an active member of College Music Society and Music Teachers National Association.
