The Olympia Chamber Orchestra presents: Joie de Vivre Featuring winners of the 2024 OMTA Concerto Competition

January 23 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

$5 – $25

Come celebrate incredible young musicians in the Olympia area with the
Olympia Chamber Orchestra! The Olympia Chamber Orchestra (OCO) and
the Olympia Music Teachers Association (OMTA) have a longstanding
tradition of fostering young musical talent. Each year, OMTA hosts a concerto
competition for young pianists in the region. The winners of the two
advanced divisions are selected to perform their chosen concerti with the full
accompaniment of OCO.
Pianist Chloe Song will perform George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue and
pianist Phoebe Goh will perform Johann Nepomunk Hummel’s Piano
Concerto No. 1, first movement with the orchestra, two pieces in vastly
differing styles that showcase the skills of these soloists wonderfully. The
orchestra will also be performing Domenico Cimarosa’s Overture from his
opera Il Matrimonio Secreto (The Secret Wedding) and Charles Gounod’s
Symphony No. 1. This diverse program, entitled “Joie de Vivre” (Joys of Life),
celebrates life’s joyful moments, even during the more dreary months of the
year.
This concert takes place on Sunday, February 23 at 2:30 pm, at the Capital
High School Performing Arts Center in West Olympia. Tickets can be
purchased at OlympiaChamberOrchestra.org on our “Performances” page.
General Admission – $25; Seniors, Post-Secondary Students, & Military – $15;
High School Students and Younger – $5. Family Bundles are available with
more information available on our website.
