Seattle Pro Musica: Nowell – Winter in the British Isles

Celebrate the holidays with enthralling choral music from the British Isles. You’ll hear traditional favorites by Herbert Howells and William Walton, future classics from some of Britain’s rising female composers, and Roderick Williams’s gentle jazz-inspired setting of Now winter nights.

We will also feature works by Kerensa Briggs, Rebecca Dale, Joanna Marsh, Lucy Walker, Gabriel Jackson, Philip Stopford, and more.

Of note: Our performances of Nowell at Bastyr University Chapel will be sung-through, and will not include any spoken introductions to the pieces after our welcome message; we will ask the audience to hold applause until the end of the concert. Our performances of Nowell at Seattle First Baptist Church will include introductions from choir members and Karen P. Thomas, and audience members will be encouraged to applaud as they are moved to do so. The programming will be identical between concerts.
