Jill Cohn Live at Henry Earl Estate Wines

April 12 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us welcoming Jill Cohn as one of the performing artists at Henry Earl. She’ll be here on Saturday, April 12th 6-8pm

ABOUT THE ARTIST:
“In 1997 Cohn arrived in Seattle just in time for the rebirth of the coffee house. Time was ripe for song and melancholy in the Emerald City and there were many up n coming female singer songwriters coming on the scene. Jill’s piano guitar driven pop fit right in and she was quickly welcomed to perform at many venues and songwriter’s circles. Performing solo and with her band, she began touring extensively after becoming a Top Five Finalist During the first National Lilith Fair Competition Talent Search, which landed her on the cover of the Seattle Times Entertainment Section.

Her 4th album, “the absence of moving” became a mainstay on AAA Radio with the first single “Louisiana Lover” receiving accolades from Rolling Stone, Songwriter Magazine and Album Network.

In 2001 she released her critically acclaimed “Window to the Wise” with her Seattle bandmates and songs from that album can be found on Dawson’s Creek, Hawthorne, and Party of Five. Shortly After the release of “Window” Cohn was selected to perform with JEWEL during the singers’ Soul City Songwriter’s Competition in which Jill was a Top Ten Finalist.

Shortly after “Window to the Wise” was released, Jill found herself back in the studio recording with Producer Martin Feveyear to create her “Seven Year Surrender” release. A song from this CD entitled “Doormat” was used in an episode of the UK Hit “Skins” resulting in over 40k views.

Jill returned to the road in support of both releases and eventually found her way to Mexico City in order to work on a new song cycle. She returned to Los Angeles with new songs in hand and recorded the Piano-centric, “Every Street Inside of You ~ Mexico City”. Working again with producers Ethan Allen and Jim Adam Watts, they combined modern elements with Jill’s style, and started referring to the release’s style as “Folktronica”. Jill’s song “Rescue Dog” charted nation wide on AAA Radio.

In 2015 Cohn reached out to Grammy Award Producer Malcolm Burn and a new chapter of her career was born. Jill went to his studio in Kingston NY to record her “Yellow Rose” EP and then returned later in the year to record her “Heartstrings Touching Ground” release. Jill’s most recent collection of songs, entitled “Balanced on the Rail” was recorded with her Seattle Bandmates, long-time producer, Stephen Sherrard and Malcolm Burn in Seattle during a week in late December. An endorsee of Taylor Guitars since 1999 Jill continues to tour and has shared the stage as support with many National Touring Artists including: Horse Feathers, Danelle Ate the Sandwich, Vonda Shepard, Stacey Earle, Loudon Wainwright III, Cheryl Wheeler, It’s a Beautiful Day, Elvin Bishop, David Bromberg, Dave Matthews, Shawn Mullins and most recently two nights supporting J.D. Souther at Seattle’s Premier Venue, The Triple Door.”
