The 2024-25 Film and Speaker Series presents: Eating for Tomorrow – Restoring the Environment and Feeding the World
The Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center is partnering with the Wenatchee Confluence Rotary Club for an upbeat and informative presentation on plant-based eating and how it ties into our current environmental and climate crises.
On Thursday, April 10, from 6-8 PM, world-renowned climate scientist and Executive Director of the World Preservation Foundation, Gerard Bisshop, will share a global overview of the impact that deforestation and agriculture are having on our natural ecosystems in everyday language we can all understand. He outlines viable solutions to the environmental crises we face with humor and optimism. Bisshop is a former senior environmental scientist with the Australian government, co-authored the book that inspired the documentary, “Eating Our Way to Extinction,” and served as the film’s scientific advisor.
Several local organizations will be on hand with educational resources and examples of ready-to-go projects to help us “think globally and act locally:” Wenatchee Valley Rotary Clubs, Sustainable NCW, Xerces Society, Cascadia Conservation District, Winton Compost Works, and Citizens Climate Lobby. Valley Cakes & Bakes will also offer delicious planet-friendly desserts and tips for how to make them at home.
Admission is free for members and $5 for non-members. Registration is recommended.
The 2024-25 Film and Speaker Series is sponsored by Gesa Credit Union. This event is sponsored by the Wenatchee Confluence Rotary Club.
