“Finding Chief Kamiakin” is the story of a prominent leader of the Yakima who, in the 1850s, led a coalition of Columbia Plateau tribes to face the United States army after a surge of immigrants jeopardized the native population’s lands and traditional way of life.
Kamiak Elementary School in Pullman is named after him.
