Book Reading: Sky Ranch by Linda Lockwood

April 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Join A Book for All Seasons and NCW Libraries to welcome author, Linda Lockwood, back to North Central Washington to talk about her new book, Sky Ranch: Reared in the High Country.

Confused by her mother’s unexplained “episodes” and her family’s secrecy around schizophrenia, ten-year-old Linda sought solace in mastering her ranch-hand responsibilities—herding their sheep, defending the ranch’s livestock, and training the horses she loved.

But as Linda reached motherhood, her happiness was haunted by questions: How did her mother become schizophrenic? What did she endure as a patient in 1960s mental hospitals? Might Linda, or even her children, be next to battle that catastrophic mental disorder? Ultimately, her questions drive her to seek answers at the mental institution where her mother was treated.
