UIdaho’s Prison Education Initiative (PEI) is dedicated to meeting the educational needs of incarcerated students at the Idaho Correctional Institution – Orofino (ICIO), the Pocatello Women’s Correctional Center (PWCC), and the Idaho State Correctional Center (ISCC). While the Pell Grant covers many college costs, expenses like application fees and textbooks remain the responsibility of the students. To raise money for these expenses and spread awareness about college-in-prison initiatives, the PEI is hosting a spoken word night featuring the stories, poems, and other works by incarcerated authors at Idaho Correctional Institution – Orofino. Join us for an evening of creative works and powerful performances as we amplify the voices of those behind bars and highlight the transformative power of prison education.
