PULLMAN, Wash. – After breaking ground back in August of 2022, the Pullman-Moscow regional airport has unveiled their brand new, three-gate passenger terminal.
Executive Director Tony Bean took us through the new terminal layout, where we had the chance to see all of the new additions.
Some new features include an automated parking system with two hours of free parking. The parking lot features an increase in parking spots from 320 to 450 as well as 90 rental car spots. The space also includes a charter room for local sports teams that can also be used as a multipurpose room. A large portion of the budget was also put towards the new administrative office.
“We were able to create a space for that, that also doubles as a space for athletics and supporting wsu and the university of idaho for private charters that they use,” says Bean.
As of August 15th, the new airport terminal is now able to offer 5 to 6 flights to Seattle, and one flight to Boise per day. They are also working on additional air service opportunities including flights to Portland, Salt Lake City and Denver.
With five times more space and two levels, the airport is able to join the competition for airlines as they show they can provide support to larger aircrafts.
Despite the exciting reveal, Bean says they’re just getting started with additional plans in the works.
“We have a contractor for concessions that we are working with, so hopefully we have a concessionaire that can serve food and beverages, both sides, as well as gifts,” says Bean.
“This new terminal is more than just a building, it’s an economic engine for the palouse. Thanks to the bipartisan infrastructure law, we have created 850 good-paying building trades jobs, and within 15 years, the airport is projected to generate over $40 million in gross regional product and support more than 740 long-term indirect jobs. a modern terminal with capacity for more flights will make pullman a more attractive location for new and growing businesses,” said senator Maria Cantwell, prior to the terminal’s opening.
