The murder trial of Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students in November 2022, has been set for June 2, 2025.

The trial date comes nearly three years after the brutal stabbing of U of I students Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin at an off-campus house in the early morning hours of Nov. 13, 2022.

Kohberger was a graduate student studying criminology at Washington State University just across the state line. He was arrested and charged with the killings on Dec. 30, 2022, at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania while on winter break.

The case has attracted international attention and a flurry of social media sleuthing and speculation since the killings were first made public.

A not guilty plea was entered on Kohberger’s behalf last year. Prosecutors intend to seek the death penalty.

Judge John C. Judge set aside around three months for the murder trial, which includes jury selection and the sentencing phase.

Motions challenging the death penalty must be filed by Sept. 5. The hearing to decide on a possible change of venue to move the trial will be on Aug. 29.

Any open hearings will continue to be livestreamed on the judge’s YouTube channel.
