Hot Tuna is a tight and masterful duo that has always been on the cutting edge of great music. Hot Tuna is a reminder of wild and happy times and a band name linked to American blues and roots rock and roll. For more than four decades, Hot Tuna has recorded some of the best acoustic and electric music ever experienced and they are still playing strong.
Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen and Jack Casady discovered guitars when they were teens and they knew that they wanted to make music. Hailing from D.C., the two played at venues around the nation’s capital and found a special love of the blues, country, and jazz in small clubs. In the 1960s, Jorma and Jack went to San Francisco to play in a band that was forming; the results of which created signature riffs that can still be heard in the legendary songs of Jefferson Airplane. The Kaukonen-Casady duo created much of Jefferson Airplane’s signature sound, and Jorma’s lead and fingerstyle guitar playing characterizes some of the band’s most memorable tracks.
Thus began a career that would result in more than two-dozen albums and thousands of concerts around the world. Varying from project to project, the very definition of Hot Tuna has always been Jorma and Jack. Both Jorma and Jack have undertaken projects with other musicians, having played with the greats from Jimmy Hendrix to Govt. Mule, as well as solo projects. All the while, Hot Tuna has existed.
These two pals have never wavered in one of the most enduring friendships in music. Hot Tuna is truly a Rock & Roll Legend. You will want to witness this jam live.
