Our Valley Our Future, a nonprofit, is launching Wenatchee Valley 101, an event series aimed at helping new residents connect with their community.

Wenatchee is the third-fastest-growing metropolitan area in Washington, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Many people moved to the area during the pandemic,  said Steve Maher, project coordinator for Our Valley Our Future.

“A lot of people wanted to get away from the city and move to a more affordable area. With Wenatchee Valley 101, people will meet each other and local leaders and help establish themselves in the community,”  Maher said.

The program will introduce participants to Wenatchee Valley’s history, services and amenities while providing tools to help people get involved in civic life. Each event in the series will focus on a different theme, and offer opportunities for newcomers to socialize and engage with the community.

The first event, Our Outdoor Places, is scheduled for April 25 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Wenatchee. The series is open to people who have lived in the area for fewer than five years, as well as invited nonprofit leaders.

The cost to attend is $10 per person. Spanish interpretation is available upon request during registration.
