CAUSES OF AN INCREASE IN PET ADOPTIONS.

Pullman, Wash. (Murrow News 8) — Challenges with supply and demand during the pandemic have led to shortages not only of items such as hand sanitizer and toilet paper, but in many places, also in pets available for adoption.

Shelby Vasquez, assistant director of shelter operation, Whitman county humane society said that the demand for pet adoptions were increased during the middle of coronavirus pandemic.

Last year at this time, humane society had applications from about very few people per month. That has now increased to about more than 100.

There is a fear that as the pandemic fades there will be a rise in abandoned pets.
